"I think it is a great idea, but I don't need it for my child." - Myth #4 about college student.
This myth is a shared thought among many college parents. Although KnowYouGo is a new startup, our staff is already hearing testimonials from parents that have had their students enrolled in previous years. Read what this current college student says...
"As a freshman, I missed a lot of class. As a result, my GPA struggled, and it created a constant battle with my parents. We argued a lot, because they knew I wasn't going to class. My dad would track my phone using a Find My iPhone* app, but it was a very flawed system. He was constantly having to text me and call me, and our conversations were almost not positive or pleasant. If something like "Know You Go" had been around, we could have avoided many arguments, and I would have been held much more accountable when it came to going to class. My GPA would also most likely be much higher than it is now." -Anonymous - a current college student in the SEC.
Many parents believe that their student are driven and committed to academic excellence. Most are correct. Unfortunately, some will be wrong. Given the freedom of college life and the new experiences that a college student will have, it is inevitable that some of them will lose sight of their priorities. Few, if any, parents think their student will be one that will make poor choices that cost them. If they believed their student would fail they would not be wasting money on tuition and other expenses.
Even if you are correct what harm is there in hedging your bets? KnowYouGo will not hinder good students and will help those who need it. It is a no lose situation. It is a minimal cost of $50 annually compared to the massive expense additional semesters can cost you.
